Gary and Jayne Bares are well known in Aged Care, having owned and operated nursing homes and aged care facilities since 1990. Gary, a builder/ developer, managed the design and construction of their many facilities while Jayne was Director of Nursing /CEO.
Gary and Jayne first visited Deep Creek in 1998, then shortly after purchased their first houseboat moored there. They fell in love with the beauty of this magical part of Australia and spent many years of happy family holidays on the river.
In 2000 they started to purchase the land around the marina and over time their land holding grew to over 700 acres and over 6 kilometres of amazing river front. It was their dream to develop this piece of paradise into a world class master planned holiday and lifestyle destination. To achieve this dream, they have had the land rezoned, built the boat building shed, hard stand and boat storage sheds, extended the marina to hold an extra 35 houseboats, developed an International Award Winning Water Treatment and Sewerage Plant to support 500 plus houses, worked with Telstra to build a Mobile Tower and Telstra Smart Community, and completed much of the infrastructure needed to support the development such as underground cabling and electrical substations to support 300 plus houses.
Along the way they were involved, in partnership, with The Deep Creek Hotel (when it was previously known as Watsons Bar and Restaurant), started The Deep Creek Houseboat Hire Company, started The Boat Storage Sheds business and owned an investment portfolio of rental properties in the area.
Their commitment to their dream continues today, with the launch of Waterfront Moama and Club Waterfront. They hope you and your family will have just as many years of happy holidays here, just like their family continues to enjoy.
